Buying a House

Houses on Webwarriors are sold here rather than in game. Every free house has a price, and the first character to pay it moves in.

Before you bid

  • Log the character out. This is the one that catches people. The server keeps an online character's bank balance in memory and writes it back at logout, so gold taken here would reappear the moment you log out — a house paid for with money you still have. The site refuses the bid rather than let that happen, and says so by name.
  • Level 8 or above. Asked of the character doing the bidding, not of your best one.
  • The gold has to be in the bank. Not in the backpack, not in a depot — the bank balance is the only thing the website can reach.
  • There is a limit. The house is the character's, not the account's — a character may hold one house, and an account three houses in all. A house you are merely winning at auction counts against that, so you cannot tie up more houses than you are allowed to end up with.

Buying one

Find a free house on the house list and open it. Pick which of your characters is buying, and the page tells you straight away if that one cannot — too low a level, still online, or already at the limit.

Price 1 gold for every house, whatever its size.
When you pay Immediately. The house is yours as soon as the gold is taken.

Guildhalls

A guildhall is sold the same way to a different buyer. A character cannot take one: the guild does, and the site says so on the hall's page. The hall is the guild's, and its balance is what pays for it — a guild may hold one guildhall.

  • Only the leader bids, from the hall's page, and the gold comes out of the guild's balance rather than anybody's bank. Deposit into the balance from the guild page first.
  • The leader's name is on the door. The game opens houses by character, so a hall has to be written to somebody — but it is the guild's all the same, and hand the guild on and the hall follows it to the new leader.
  • Neither of the caps above applies. Holding a hall for your guild does not use up your own character's house.
  • Disbanding forfeits a standing bid. A guild that closes down while winning a hall loses the bid and the gold with it: it left the balance when the bid was placed, and there is no balance left to hand it back to.

Rent

Every house has rent written on it, shown on the list and on its own page. It is drawn per month from the owner's bank balance by the game server, not by this website — the site only tells you the figure. Keep enough in the bank, or the server takes the house back the way it always has.

Rent has nothing to do with what you paid for the house. It is the map's own valuation, the same for whoever lives there.

When the game catches up

The website writes who owns a house into the database; the game server reads houses when it starts and holds them in memory while it runs. So a house won here is not necessarily a door that opens straight away — the game learns about its new owner at the next server restart.

If you have won a house and the door still will not let you in, wait for the next restart before assuming something is broken.
